Blessings For Boulder’s Most Famous Jewish Couple

Tis the season, folks, and even rabbis are commanded to learn Torah’s Love Languages, so let’s go: Given the time and the occasion, what better connection could there be for this special gathering than between the Five books of Torah and the Five Love languages:

GENESIS: Acts of Service: From Avraham down to Yosef, the Holy Blessed One has been with our ancestors day and night, through all the family drama, making matches, feeding babies, referee of brothers, not a moment left alone.

EXODUS: Receiving gifts: All souls’ presence at Sinai, like one person with one heart…each got their individually wrapped, unique piece of Torah. Who could ask for anything more!

VAYIKRA: Physical touch: Of course, G-d does not literally get under our skin, but there is a request for the sensory holy touches that come from a home that can become a sanctuary. .

BAMIDBAR: Quality Time: Well, forty years hovering in a cloud and providing heavenly food and water with transforming tastes, we got to know G-d pretty well, and we, with all our quirks go to be known inside and out.

DEVORIM: Words of Affirmation: G-d sent plenty quotes and love notes and text messages to remind us and reminisce how deeply cared for we are even after we may slip from our Sinai connection. Like one of my favorite quotes, ‘Even when you are being judges, remember the Ultimate judge is someone who is ‘crazy in love with you.’

Do you think this comparison of fives is farfetched? Remember this verse from Isaiah: ‘As a groom rejoices with his bride, so does your G-d rejoice with you.’

So my blessing is for this beautiful couple is to move through the next phase of a long and happy life, navigating any changing waters that come up, with these five love languages both in the commerce of this world and through the exalted lens of Torah with the help of the Almighty and all the powers of the creation!
