Simchat Torah is the commemoration of that devastating Black Sabbath on the Jewish calendar. It marks a full year of the hostages not being able to celebrate any holidays with their families.
As we move into almost a year of walking in solidarity with the hostages held in Gaza, we have decided to dedicate each walk to a particular hostage or group of hostages. Last week, our walk highlighted the 13 women still held — ten of whom are believed to be alive.
This week we will be regularly posting social media posts about the Bibas family. On Sunday, we will be walking with empty strollers to draw attention to the plight of the Bibas parents and their beautiful children, the very youngest captives. Their red hair has become a symbol across the world. The kidnapping of innocent babies so profoundly demonstrates the extraordinary cruelty of the Hamas terrorists.
Please join us on our walk and in sharing our social media posts and flyer. Our message continues to be “Let them go now” and we will not stop walking until they’re all home. Join our Facebook group to see posts about each of the hostages. Copy and share them, add to their stores in the comments. Help keep the hostages in the headlines.
I hope many of you will there with us in solidarity and in community, Jews and nonJews. As noted below, this is a humanitarian crisis. We have walked in the streets for so many others. Now we need to walk for us.
Sunday, October 27th, marks the 387th day, since 240 hostages were kidnapped from Israel and taken to Gaza. 101 of them, seven of whom are American citizens, still remain captive there. Please – join us this Sunday to walk for all those still held hostage. The world cannot forget. Please bring posters and flags (or you can borrow from us) and wear red.
The local Boulder chapter of Run For Their Lives (part of the larger Bring Them Home Now initiative) has been walking in downtown Boulder every week. There are multiple groups like ours meeting internationally and across US cities (including a local Denver chapter). Our group has about 220 members, and has not missed a walk since Thanksgiving Weekend 2023.
Our group meets at 1 pm on the corner of Pearl & 8th and walks the length of the Pearl Street Mall and back, stopping at the courthouse for a brief video that the leads of Run For Their Lives include in their weekly recap. The goal is to share the message far and wide (specifically via social media) that the hostages have not been forgotten. This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release.
When: Sunday, October 27th at 1 pm
Meet-up: Corner of Pearl & 8th Street
