On November 16, Governor Polis declared that every third week of November will now be Colorado Recycles Week. He declared this in conjunction with the release of the 4th annual report, “The State of Recycling in Colorado” by Eco-Cycle and CoPirg. Their research “found that Colorado wasted more and recycled less in 2019 than in 2018, continuing to fall short of our state recycling goals and lagging behind the rest of the nation. Yet despite the downward trend, dozens of Colorado communities continue to demonstrate how recycling and composting can be successful in Colorado.
Eco-Cycle, Boulder’s recycling non-profit, is one of the best resources in the state to help us divert waste from the landfill and create a zero-waste community. They just released their holiday guide for the 2020 season. They emphasize that Americans create 25% more trash during the holidays, but there are ways we can all work to reduce that!
Rosie Briggs, from Eco-Cycle, will be leading a virtual class for the community this Thursday evening December 3rd, “Green Gift Giving.” Sign up and learn how you can create a positive impact on the environment and climate this Chanukah!
