Hadassah Presents Readings from “We Are Going To Be Lucky”

Meet Liz Fox and her husband, Sid, as they read excerpts from the letters between her mom and dad. This Zoom presentation on Friday, October 16, at 11:00 AM, MDT, is co-sponsored by Boulder Hadassah and the Boulder JCC.

This funny, emotional, and heartwarming book is based on excerpts from 2,000 letters written between Liz’s parents during World War II. Her dad trained in Mississippi for the infantry, fought in Europe, and recovered from injuries in the Battle of the Bulge. An historian by training, he managed to save and send  home her mom’s letters, detailing her time working at the Brooklyn Navy Yard  building periscopes, and her experience, both while pregnant and as a new mom, not knowing  whether her husband would return. The result is a conversation addressing  a wide variety of political, social, and economic topics, as well as a deep love story!

Liz has served for more than twenty years in a leadership role on the National Board of Hadassah, where her responsibilities include writing, training, and public speaking. She has a BA in history from the City College of New York and an MA in vocational rehabilitation counseling from New York University. Please register at. http://www.hadassah.org/events/lucky. A Zoom link will be sent with your confirmation email.
