Letter: Support Temple Emanuel of Pueblo

It is always horrible to hear about a threat against a Jewish house of worship anywhere. When it happens in Colorado, it is even more shocking and hits much too close to home. Perhaps many of us had never heard of Temple Emanuel in Pueblo before Monday, and that’s a shame. Although I have only visited once, I know that it is a vibrant and loving community, housed in a 120-year-old beautiful building that is the second oldest continuously operated synagogue in our state.  Its congregants heroically keep Judaism alive in a small town.

We are all grateful to law enforcement for protecting Temple Emanuel. It is our job, as the Colorado Jewish community, to make sure that the congregation receives an outpouring of love and support from the rest of us. Please have your temple, synagogue or other Jewish organization reach out to Temple Emanuel to express your concern and good wishes. Let them know that they are in your thoughts and that they are not alone.

Am Yisrael Chai.

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!
