High Holidays at CU Boulder Hillel

Ross Z. Levy

CU Boulder Hillel will be hosting a variety of services and events for the High Holidays this year. During Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Ross Z. Levy will be leading us in engaging, spiritually awakening, and musical services. Ross Z. Levy is a fourth year rabbinical student at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s Cincinnati campus.

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Ross earned his B.A. in Religion from the George Washington University in 2016, choosing to focus on the development of medieval Islamic philosophy for his senior thesis. In addition to his first year of studies at the Jerusalem campus of HUC-JIR, Ross participated in the Shalom Hartman Institute’s Rabbinical Students Seminar. Following the year in Israel, Ross spent a summer at URJ Henry S. Jacobs camp in Utica, MS, then served as the student rabbi for Temple Shalom in Lafayette, LA while continuing his studies in Cincinnati. Most recently, Ross spent this past summer in an intensive study program on HUC-JIR’s LA campus. He is excited to spend this sacred season with the CU Boulder Hillel community!

Tishrei Tidbits – Yom Kippur

How do I know Judaism is still alive and well? More people go to synagogue for Kol NIdrei than any other time of the year- and there’s no food served for at least twenty four hours!

Join Us for a Meaningful Humanistic Yom Kippur Celebration!

Humanistic Judaism considers Yom Kippur to be the culmination of the self-analysis that was initiated on Rosh Hashanah. We are offered the opportunity to ask forgiveness from ourselves as well as from those we have wronged, and we vow to be active, involved, caring people in the coming year.
