Over the course of the last half-century, during their many travels to six continents for scientific meetings, the Linskys have visited and attended services in a variety of synagogues worldwide. They have been to High Holiday services in Stockholm, Sweden; Budapest, Hungary; Barcelona, Spain; Florence, Italy; Medellin, Columbia; and Mendoza, Argentina — as well as Shabbat services in Harare,Zimbabwe; Paris, France; Kobe, Japan and many points in between. This talk will describe some of the interesting and unusual experiences they have had at these synagogues around the world.
Dr. Linsky, a founding member of Bonai Shalom, is a Research Professor Emeritus at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He recently retired from the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences and the JILA research institute on campus, but he continues an active research program concerning the ultraviolet and X-ray emission of stars, the interstellar medium, cosmology, and the search for life on planets around other stars. Services begin at 6 p.m., dinner is at 7 p.m., and the talk begins at 8 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer period.
Reservations must be made in advance. Dinner is $15 per adult, $12 per child (under 13 years old) with a $50 maximum per family. If you would like wine with your dinner, it is BYOB. (Kosher only, please label your wine with your name unless you plan to share.) Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31.
