For centuries we have taken pride in our devotion to learning and questioning, to look at all positions and issues. When it comes to Israel, however, our communal leadership is selective as to the information it presents to the community. In Boulder, we can talk about Iran but not about the Occupation, the on-going displacement of Palestinians in Jerusalem and parts of the West Bank or about Jewish terrorism against the Palestinians.

Jonathan Lederer's confrontation with pro-Arab protesters at Columbia University highlights the escalating tensions and hostility experienced when seeking dialogue on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Of 12 Palestinians killed in Israel’s in Jenin the other week, at least four were under 18, the Palestinian Health Ministry said, according to The New York Times. Terrorist groups claimed that at least five of those killed were fighters, including a 16-year-old boy. Israel said that all Palestinian fatalities were combatants.

For nearly two decades the mainstream media has written about "Palestinian refugees" to describe the millions of Arabs living in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and Gaza. Nothing could be further from the truth. 

Bruce Ticker says that few people are fooled by Palestinians claiming that their attacks on Israelis are driven by Israeli policy. ("Column: No Anti-Semitism Here", BJN 4/21/2023.) Unfortunately, that is not true.

It happened in Berlin, of all places. On behalf of those poor Palestinians, they chanted “Death to the Jews,” “Death to Israel” and “Tel Aviv, the answer will come.”

Certainly the refugees should be helped, but it is bothersome that the Arab nations have done little or nothing for them.
