Over 200 people attended as Carmen Atilano and Rabbi Deborah Ruth Bronstein were honored with the Anti-Defamation League's 2009 Community Builder Awards.

Shortly before Yom Kippur, the Boulder Jewish Community Foundation announced its 2009 grantees. In 2008, the BJCF gave grants to 17 organizations; in 2009 the grantees totaled 22 local Jewish charities providing services within Boulder County including, for the first time, the Boulder Jewish News.

At any given time, there are more Jews not affiliated with the Jewish community than actively involved. To address this need for outreach to unengaged Jews, the Jewish Outreach Institute (JOI) has formed the Big Tent Judaism Coalition.

Shofar, Sho-good! Chabad Lubavitch of Boulder County put on a Shofar Factory just before the High Holidays.  The successful event drew over 250 people including kids and adults from Boulder Jewish Day School, Hebrew High and the Boulder JCC Preschool. Boulder celebrated the 15th annual Jewish Festival on the Mall in spite of some mid-day rain on Sunday, June 7th.
