When a parent buries a child, little else matters. So how does the Black Lives Matter movement find the time and energy to brand Israel as an apartheid and genocidal state and equate its policies with police brutality?

We are also saddened by the killing of George Floyd.... But we were also disappointed by some parts of the statement.

With visceral rage and utter disgust, we took to the streets to PEACEFULLY demand justice for Mr. Floyd and to bring attention to the routine use of deadly force by cops against unarmed, defenseless Black and Latino men, especially young ones.

My weekend in Baltimore, first with idealistic rabbinic students and then with local people working for change, gave me great hope overall in what can be achieved by the courageous human spirit.
