Doorways to God’s Intentions
A dirt path winds through a grassy field leading to rugby goalposts under a cloudy sky.

Doorways to God’s Intentions

God sends us down as little seeds and eggs

where in red warmth we begin to grow and crack the slim door open.

The world is a flash of light and a slap

to let us know we must awaken from

sweet dreams of unconditional love.

Not knowing if our lives are going to change

the world as we know it.

The angels sing, holding our hands, leading us

to light, behind a door, where we learn the

language of the present and the past, and

the blueprints drawn.

From there we are led to dark doors

that haven’t been opened,

standing like treasure chests,

doors that fit only your skeleton key, a puzzle piece only you hold, to find the total picture.

Some need help to find themselves,

others get caught up in failed attempts

to push the portals open, and

others need a different destination.

In the end, we do what can.

The goal posts keep moving

on the fields of heaven

to walk the path you’re given.
