Our walk this week is dedicated to the 13 hostages who are over age 60. Eight of them were murdered by Hamas; five are still alive.
We walk this week, and every week since last Thanksgiving, in the hope of calling attention to this ongoing humanitarian issue, and we plead for the release of those hostages still alive, and for the return of the dead for proper burial.
We greatly appreciate you sharing our flyers and posts on social media and in listserves. It is in line with the global initiative’s goal of keeping the hostages in the public eye as much as possible. Thank you for helping in this work. Please walk with us.
In solidarity,
Rachel

From Bruce Shaffer:
I’ve been in freeze-frame since returning to Boulder last week, slow-mo around the house, at best. I can’t believe how cold it is! But nearly everything triggers a thought in me about the hostages. I don’t know much about underground weather conditions, but there has been a lot of recent expert testimony in Israel about the long term uninhabitability of the conditions that the Hostages are stuck in, and the likely maladies they are suffering. It’s all longhand code for this fact: they can’t survive down there much longer. This Sunday, we’re dedicating our R4TL walk to many of the most physically vulnerable Hostages, those over 60. Those with a slim chance of hanging on much longer. In Israel, a new call goes out at the gatherings for the hostages and families: “Atem lo lvad! Anachnu itchem!” You are not alone! We are with you! And so we will be with them, our suffering seniors, in spirit on Sunday at 1:00.
There are also new types of demonstrations gaining force in Israel, such as Mishmeret 101 / Code 101, referring to the daily code that goes out announcing where to congregate, mostly women in white, including many of the Hostages’ mothers. They’re all efforts to thaw the frozen negotiations. We’ll continue to do what we do best, parading before our weekly public audience on the Pearl Street Mall, snow or shine, quietly pleading with them to shake up, wake up and inhale this ongoing human tragedy that’s leaving too many unable to breathe at all.
Time is running out for all the hostages. Whether or not you walk this Sunday:
