A new adoption support group is forming on June 18, 2024 in the Boulder-Longmont Colorado area, for adult adoptees and facilitated by psychotherapist and adoptee Janice Shayne, CHt.
New members are currently being interviewed and accepted for this ongoing therapy session for those seeking a community of adult adoptees. The main purpose of each session is to share origin stories, feelings, questions, and challenges pertinent to the lifelong adoption experience.
“Adoption-related issues surface at stressful times throughout our lives,” Shayne explains, including from her own experience as an adoptee. “It is a deeply seated trauma that society largely ignores, leaving adoptees to be misunderstood and without support.”
Together, adoptees will learn more about who they are and how to better cope with their adoption-related trauma and emotional issues, from major to minor.
With her decades-long professional experience, Janice Shayne will lead support group members to explore how they were shaped by this life-altering event and how they can use it to become their best selves and find happiness and meaning in their relationships and lives.
The Adoption Support Group is for adult adoptees over the age of 22. The program incorporates the THRIVE acronym, standing for Trust – Heal – Restore – Integrate – Validate – Emerge, stages that are vital to healing from psychological wounds, trauma, doubt, and other feelings associated with the adoption experience.
The Adoption Support Group is facilitated by:
Janice E. Shayne, CHt, Psychotherapist, Adoptee
