KAVOD: Helping to Insure Dignity for Holocaust Survivors

First Friday on a Thursday!
Thursday, June 4th, 7:00 pm

It has been estimated that there are 80,000 Holocaust survivors living in the U.S. and that over one-third are living in or near poverty. It is unconscionable and unacceptable that these survivors, who have endured so much already, are living their remaining years struggling with day to day essential needs, such as groceries and medicine. John and Amy Israel Pregulman founded KAVOD to help survivors  in need live their remaining years with dignity and honor by providing emergency aid.  Since its inception in 2015,  KAVOD has served Holocaust survivors in Denver, Memphis, and many other cities across the U.S. Please join us to hear more about John and Amy’s inspirational work. Click here for the Zoom information for this presentation.

John is a native of Chattanooga, TN and has been photographing Holocaust survivors since 2012. As of April 2019, John has taken 1,000 photographs in the U.S., Tokyo, and Prague. There is no commercial aspect to the Photography Legacy Project; he simply gives the photos to the survivors and their families in an effort to honor and preserve their legacy. He continues to tour the country taking photographs, as well as raising money for KAVOD, and would welcome inquiries from anyone who knows of survivors who would like to have their photos taken. Amy is a native of Memphis, TN who has had a career in the Jewish nonprofit world.  She is KAVOD Executive Director.
