Develop Your Interest in Jewish Genealogy

Ellen Kowitt will be speaking at the Boulder JCC Lunch and Learn on Tuesday, February 4 on “What’s Jewish About Jewish Genealogy.” Kowitt is a veteran Jewish records researcher and leader in genealogy activities worldwide. She is a lead volunteer with the Jewish Genealogical Society of Colorado and the “Genealogist on Call” in the Boulder JCC Library on Tuesday evenings from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Interest in understanding our family history and cultural connections has only increased in recent years with the invention of the easy genetic test. Linking and recording family relationships dates back to the recording of the Table of Nations found in the Book of Genesis. Professional genealogist Ellen Kowitt will explore the values and traditions rooted in Judaism that might frame a family history project.

Kowitt will also touch on the mystery surrounding genealogy and how to get started researching your family history. A second talk is scheduled for May 5 where Kowitt will explore the recent explosion of commercial DNA tests.

To ensure we have enough seats and food, advance registration for Lunch and Learn programs is always recommended or call 303-998-1900.
