JERUSALEM, Israel – Yad Sarah, Israel’s leading volunteer-led social service organization, has launched a nationwide emergency response to support hospitals, displaced families, and vulnerable individuals following Iran’s continuing attacks on Israel. This effort is rapidly expanding medical equipment resources and transportation services to meet a nationwide surge in demand.

In the wake of the initial attacks, Israel’s Ministry of Health directed to hospitals quickly free up beds in anticipation of a potential mass casualty influx, creating a critical need for home hospital equipment. Yad Sarah responded immediately, supplying large volumes of home hospitalization equipment for discharged patients, helping ensure a seamless and safe transition from hospital to home care. In a single day, Yad Sarah recorded a significant increase in demand for home hospitalization equipment, including hospital beds, patient lifts, specialized recliners, and respiratory support devices.
“During times of national emergency, Yad Sarah serves as the home-front backbone of Israel’s healthcare system,” said Adele Goldberg, Executive Director of Friends of Yad Sarah. “We ensure that the people of Israel can continue receiving safe, dignified care at home. Yad Sarah’s volunteers and staff are mobilized around the clock to meet this critical moment.”
In addition to supporting hospitals, Yad Sarah is providing on-the-ground assistance to victims of the missile strike in Beit Shemesh. Following the destruction of homes and evacuation of residents, Yad Sarah delivered medical and rehabilitative equipment directly to the hotels where evacuees are temporarily sheltering, enabling patients to continue their recovery despite the loss of their homes.
The organization is also transporting isolated patients and individuals with disabilities to stay with family members and conducting proactive outreach to those living alone, offering reassurance and emotional support during this period of uncertainty.
To prepare for sustained demand, Yad Sarah has launched a significant procurement initiative to expand its inventory of medical and rehabilitative equipment, along with delivery vehicles, increasing its capacity to reach more individuals across Israel quickly.
