JEWISHcolorado to Mark Third Anniversary of October 7 with Matti Friedman

(DENVER) — JEWISHcolorado, in partnership with the University of Denver Center for Judaic Studies, invites the community to commemorate the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel with an evening of remembrance, reflection, and learning on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The community-wide event, October 7th: Remembrance and Reflection, will take place from 7-9 p.m. at the University of Denver’s Sturm Hall and feature acclaimed Canadian-Israeli journalist and author Matti Friedman.

The evening will begin with a memorial service featuring participation from community partners across Colorado, honoring the lives lost on October 7 and recognizing the lasting impact of the attacks on individuals, families, and communities. Following the service, Friedman will discuss how October 7 has reshaped Jewish life and explore the challenges and opportunities facing the Jewish people today.

Three years after the attacks, October 7 remains a defining moment for Jews worldwide. The anniversary provides an opportunity for community members to gather together in remembrance, reflect on the lasting impact of that day, and reaffirm the resilience and strength of the Jewish people.

“October 7 changed the Jewish world in profound ways, and its impact continues to be felt today,” said Renée Rockford, President and CEO of JEWISHcolorado. “This evening offers an opportunity to come together in community, honor those affected, and engage thoughtfully with the questions and challenges that continue to shape Jewish life in Israel and throughout the diaspora.”

Friedman is an award-winning journalist and bestselling author whose writing on Israel, the Middle East, and Jewish identity has appeared in leading international publications. He is recognized for bringing historical context and nuanced perspectives to complex issues facing Israel and the Jewish world.

Community partners include the University of Denver Center for Judaic Studies, ADL Mountain States, Israeli American Council, Rocky Mountain Rabbis & Cantors, and Boulder Haver. Registration is now open: https://events.idonate.com/2026october7event
