(DENVER, COLORADO) — Secure Community Network (SCN), the official safety and security organization for the Jewish community in North America, in partnership with JEWISHcolorado and the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (The CELL) to pilot a new community safety initiative. The partnership brings CAP 2.0 (Community Awareness Program), The CELL’s nationally recognized, nonpartisan online safety training, into JEWISHcolorado’s community security programming. Colorado is the first Jewish community to integrate CAP 2.0 into its local security efforts.
Developed by the CELL, CAP 2.0 is a free, one-hour, self-paced online course trusted nationwide for over a decade by law enforcement, municipalities, and major entertainment venues. The training empowers individuals to recognize and safely report warning signs of targeted violence and emerging threats. The course is open to the public, and participants earn a CAP 2.0 certification upon completion.
Participants learn to:
- Recognize behavioral indicators of escalating or concerning conduct
- Understand pathways to harm and when intervention may be appropriate
- Know how and when to safely connect individuals to the right resources
- Respond in ways that reinforce civil liberties, responsible reporting, and community trust
CAP 2.0 complements SCN’s comprehensive security programming by providing individuals with practical tools to recognize and report concerning behavior and potential threats.

In addition to our extensive menu of in-person SCN trainings provided to the Jewish community, the CAP 2.0 training provides a baseline of situational awareness preparedness in every public setting,” said Denver-based SCN Regional Security Advisor Kevin Farrington.
