All-New Series Gets Kids Up & Moving — Hiking, Dancing and Chasing Down Real Science Outdoors with Colorado-Renowned Entertainers Jeff & Paige

BOULDER, Colo. — September, 2026 — What happens when kids’ questions become outdoor adventures? “Rainbow Socks,” a new live-action musical series for children ages 4-8, combines original music, movement, hands-on science and Spanish vocabulary to encourage young viewers to explore the world around them. The series premieres Sunday, Oct. 4, at 8 a.m. MT on Rocky Mountain PBS.

Filmed in Boulder, Colorado, “Rainbow Socks” follows renowned performers and educators Jeff Kagan, Paige Doughty, and Shaun Derik as they explore the science behind the world around them, from lightning and rocks to animals and chocolate. Through original music, movement, outdoor adventures, and hands-on experiments, each episode encourages young viewers to get curious and explore for themselves. Jeff and Paige are already familiar faces to many Colorado families, having spent more than 20 years performing their educational music throughout the state.

“We’re thrilled to bring the beautiful Colorado mountains and trails we call home to families everywhere through “Rainbow Socks” and our partnership with Rocky Mountain PBS,” said Jeff Kagan and Paige Doughty, creators and stars of “Rainbow Socks.” “Getting kids up, moving, and curious about the world around them has always been our mission. There’s no better classroom than the outdoors right outside your door.”

“There’s nothing like this being made for kids right now. It’s real, it’s fun, and we hold the attention of children without overloading their senses. There are no bad guys, no lofty missions, and no jet packs. Just real people exploring actual nature and relevant science concepts while showcasing a love for the natural world,” said Dia Sokol Savage, Creator, Producer, Writer, and Director of the series. “Rainbow Socks” isn’t chasing trends, Jeff and Paige have spent twenty years building something entirely their own, and it shows in every frame of this great new series that’s even more exciting with the addition of Shaun.
