This Sunday – 75th Run For Their Lives Walk in Boulder

This Sunday – 75th Run For Their Lives Walk in Boulder

It sounds so crazy to write that we’ve been walking as a group in Boulder for 75 weeks as of this Sunday. But of course it sounds even crazier to realize that there have been hostages held by Hamas for more than a year and a half. It boggles the mind, and even more so in light of the press and social media since October 7th. We will keep walking until they are all home.

I hope many of you will come join us this Sunday, and again the following Sunday in honor of Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day).

Tomorrow is the eve of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day. As has been noted over and over again. October 7th is the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. While so many have not acknowledged that devastation, and have instead chosen to demonize Israel & Jews, our group, and all the other 230+ Run For Their Lives groups around the world, have chosen to walk weekly in peaceful solidarity for a humanitarian issue that should have been addressed by everyone who cares about social justice. Please join us.

Bring a friend. Maybe we can get 75 people to walk with us this week to honor our community’s commitment to bringing attention to the plight of the hostages, and next week in solidarity with all those celebrating the existence of the State of Israel, while calling out for the release of the 59 remaining hostages — 24 who should be home with their families, and 35 who deserve a proper burial.

Thank you for sharing our flyer widely.

Rachel

Sunday, April 27th marks the 569th day since 240 hostages were kidnapped from Israel and taken to Gaza. 59 of them still remain captive there, 24 of whom are thought to still be alive. Please – join us this Sunday to walk for all those still held hostage. The world cannot forget. Please bring posters and wear red.

The local Boulder chapter of Run For Their Lives (part of the larger Bring Them Home Now initiative) has been walking in downtown Boulder every week since Thanksgiving, 2023. That’s 75 weeks. There are multiple groups like ours meeting internationally and across US cities (including a local Denver chapter).

There are 231+ active Run For Their Lives groups across the world. Wherever you are, whether visiting friends or family or vacationing, you can join a group and walk with them, or walk on your own and post a video in the main Run For Their Lives Facebook group, in our local FB group, or on your own feeds. The initiative’s goal is to get as much press coverage as possible for the hostages through publicizing these walks.

Our group meets at 1 pm on the corner of Pearl & 8th and walks the length of the Pearl Street Mall and back, stopping at the courthouse for a brief video that the leads of Run For Their Lives include in their weekly recap. The goal is to share the message far and wide (specifically via social media) that the hostages have not been forgotten. This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release.

When: Sunday, April 27th at 1 pm
Meet-up: Corner of Pearl & 8th Street
