Letter: Palestinians Continue to Dissimulate

Letter: Palestinians Continue to Dissimulate

Dear editor:

More disturbing than American Arabs refusing to admit that Hamas and other Islamist terror groups were responsible for the devastation of Gaza (“Column: Arabs in America Blame All Others — But Themselves” Boulder Jewish News March 27, 2025) is the fact that a recent “revision” of Palestinian school curriculum, undertaken to prevent the European Union from carrying out a threatened reduction in funding to Palestinian schools, has not, in fact, removed anti-Jewish and anti-Israel content nor has the revision toned down its glorification of martyrdom; its calling on school children to join the jihad against Israel and Jews; its portrayal of Zionists as illegitimate colonizers of Palestinian land.

Furthermore, this is not the only case of Palestinian dissimulation. In attempting to get around Israel’s withholding taxes collected for the PA (an effort to bankrupt the PA’s Martyr’s Fund that supports the Pay for Slay program), the PA has announced the replacement of the Fund with a social welfare fund which  the PA claims would make payments solely based on a family’s needs.

Israel remains skeptical about these promises, noting that some of its own security personnel had been convinced, prior to October 7, 2023, that Hamas was not planning to break the peace treaty in effect at that time.

Not surprisingly, Hamas supporters have accused Israel of instigating the protests while continuing to praise Hamas for its resistance against the “Occupation.”
