Karen Diamond, 81, passed away last Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2025 from injuries sustained during the antisemitic terrorist attack on the walk on Pearl Street Mall on June 1st. There are no words to express the pain of this horrific loss of our beloved member and friend.
There was a private burial with the family before Shabbat.
Please respect the privacy of the family under these awful and distressing circumstances. This event and the tragic loss of someone who has given so much of herself over the years to the Bonai community and beyond, has impacted us all and we are sad and horrified. We will need to support each other as we process this loss.
The Boulder JCC has put together a page with mental health resources and community gatherings here that will continue to be updated.

Karen’s family are so devastated and we send our blessings of love, strength and comfort to Karen’s beloved husband Lou, sons Andrew (Elinor) and Ethan (Liz) and grandsons Tycho, Cosmo, Isadore, Herschel and Zelig.

I am so sorry. Such a tragedy. We need to rise up and speak out against the Jew hatred that is spreading across the country and world. For Karen Diamond we were too late.
I am so sorry for the devastating loss of your precious loved one
My deepest sympathy to Lou, their sons and families. My heart goes out to all that know this extraordinary couple. They have always been kind to those who know them and I am lucky to count myself in that number.
While Karen was a tragic result of hatred, I hope that people continue to spread love in this crazy world. I pray that Love rises and wins.
Sooo sorry. This shouldn’t be. We cannot allow things like this to happen. We can’t. What can we do that would make a difference? Please tell us. It’s not enough to just pray, though that is powerful.
