Brotherhood and Women of Har HaShem Present: A Dramatic Reading of “We Are Going To Be Lucky – A World War II Love Story in Letters

Sunday, June 23
10:00 am

In honor and memory of D-Day, 80 years ago, we are again presenting our dramatic reading. We have presented our program over 30 times in person and multiple times on Zoom.

When World War II was raging thousands of miles away, a young couple from Brooklyn embarked on a remarkable daily correspondence. From more than 2,000 letters between Lenny and Diana Miller, first generation American Jews, emerged a conversation, often separated by weeks: her work as a machinist and union organizer at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and as a new mother while he trained in Southern Mississippi and fought in some of the most dangerous battles overseas in Europe.

Elizabeth Fox’s book is unique, one of the only book of letters, from both sides, over three years, and a detailed account of life on the Home Front. It is “the story of the triumphs and sacrifices, of ordinary people, in an extraordinary time.”

Please join us if you haven’t seen our program or if you would like to see it again.

About Sid Fox

Sid Fox renewed his interest and study from his Hebrew School days (where he was inspired by Deborah Pessin's insightful series 'The Story of the Jewish People') when he read James Michener's "The Source". Sid eventually taught a two semester Sunday class for adults at their home when their children were at Sunday School. It was based on 15 years study of the Bible, the three hundred years of modern research and Biblical Archaeology areas he continued to pursue as he branched out to Shakespeare, the Classics and other interests.
