Shevet Sheleg Launches Its First Activity Year With An October 7 Memorial
[Denver, CO – October 8, 2024] – Tzofim North America, the Israeli Scouts in the US and Canada, is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever chapter in Colorado, ‘Shevet Sheleg’. Based in the Denver-Boulder area, the shevet offers Israeli-American youth the opportunity to develop and practice leadership, social involvement, and connection to the state of Israel.
The new Shevet is led by Tuly and Nofar, both alumni of Israel’s Tzofim, whose own experience in the Scouts inspired them to bring the program to their local community. “I wanted to provide my children with the same amazing opportunity I had in shaping my personality and values through the Tzofim”, Tuly shared. In her work with students across college campuses, Nofar notes the need for stronger Jewish leadership in them. “Today’s Jewish youth will be tomorrow’s campus leaders and will play an important role in bringing awareness and positive change against antisemitism”.

In addition to offering a dynamic range of activities and leadership development opportunities, Shevet Sheleg aims to be actively engaged in important community events. On October 6, 2024, the Shevet held a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the October 7 massacre, in partnership with the local Israeli-American Council (IAC) and Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF). On October 7, 2024, they participated in a community-wide event alongside the Jewish Federation, the JCC, Jewish Colorado, Temple Emanuel, and other local organizations to honor the victims of the attack and show solidarity with Israel.
This new chapter will strengthen Denver-Boulder’s Israeli and Jewish communities by offering a platform for youth to connect with their culture, embrace leadership, and contribute to the broader community, all conducted in Hebrew.
