Neustadt Jewish Arts, Authors, Movies and Music Festival Runs Throughout Fall at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center

Arts and culture events include musicians, speakers, a film, a comedian, a play and more for audiences of all ages

DENVER, Colo., August 14, 2024 – The 17th season of the Neustadt Jewish Arts, Authors, Movies and Music Festival (JAAMM) at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center includes a variety of events for people of all ages and interests. The festival features a summer concert by the pool at the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC Denver); a book sale; MSNBC journalist and author, Ari Melber; kids program concert pianist, Peter Simon; the film “Unspoken” featuring Denver’s Wolf Theatre Academy alum, Charlie Korman; actress and comedian, Rachel Feinstein; a fall family concert at JCC Ranch Camp; the play, The Mountaintop, with Cherry Creek Theatre; and author and speaker, Aimee Ginsburg Bikel.

“This year’s festival brings a variety of unique and exciting arts and culture events to Denver that may not otherwise have a place in our city,” said Tim Campbell, program director at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center. “We’ve selected events and locations to appeal to a variety of audiences including young families, elementary aged children, young adults, older adults and everyone in between. One of our goals is to bring laughter and joy to the community through our engaging and educational programming. These events will truly enrich the lives of attendees.” 

The 2024 Neustadt JAAMM Festival includes the following events:
September 2 at 3 p.m. – Neustadt JAAMM Summer Concert Series by the Pool: End of Summer Celebration with Nani Vazana: Nani’s fascinating migration mix of marketplace sounds and Flamenco drama blend together seamlessly to revitalize the endangered Ladino language, a Hebrew-Spanish dialect Nina learned in secret from her Moroccan grandmother. Tickets include outdoor pool use and a beer garden from Ratio Beerworks, plus activities for all ages on the terrace. 

September 11-15 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. – Neustadt JAAMM Festival Bookstore: This temporary bookstore will be held in the JCC Denver’s lobby. Books of many genres from Jewish authors or with Jewish themes will be available. 

September 14 at 7:30 p.m. – MSNBC’s Ari Melber: Ari Melber will speak about current events, 2024 elections and more. Melber is an Emmy-Award-winning journalist, news anchor, writer and attorney. 

September 15 at 1 and 3 p.m. – Peter Simon, Elementary Piano: A piano concert and comedy event that is geared toward elementary school aged students, preschool – 6th grade. Simon is a world class pianist and musician, performing around the globe. Kids will be allowed on stage of the Elaine Wolf Theatre with the piano.

September 19 at 7 p.m. – “Unspoken” Film Presentation starring Wolf Theatre Academy Alum Charlie Korman: Mizel Arts and Culture Center’s Wolf Theatre Academy alum Charlie Korman stars in this stunning film about family, self-discovery and growing up. 

Rachel Feinstein

September 26 at 7 p.m. – Actress and Comedian Rachel Feinstein: Join us for a night of laughter with Rachel Feinstein. Named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch” of 2024, Feinstein will dish about her chaotic life as the wife of a firefighter, a mother, and a comedian.

September 28 – Family Concert and Fall Celebration at Ranch: Enjoy a morning family concert at JCC’s Ranch Camp followed by fall-themed activities throughout the day and into the evening. 

October 25-November 17 – Cherry Creek Theatre and the Mizel Arts and Culture Center Present The Mountaintop: A gripping reimagination of the events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

November 14 at 7 p.m. – Aimee Ginsburg Bikel Theodore Bikel Centennial Program: Author and speaker Aimee Ginsburg Bikel is touring the country with her special Theodore Bikel Centennial Program showcasing her late husband’s career and legacy in civil rights.
