JEWISHcolorado Opens Applications for Anything Grants™

Staenberg Anything Grants™, funded by the Staenberg Family Foundation and administered by JEWISHcolorado, support projects, infrastructure, and programs of local Jewish organizations.

True to their name, the grants can be for “anything,” provided the project fulfills the grant criteria. They are awarded to Jewish nonprofit agencies, organizations, and synagogues in Colorado seeking to fund operations, a specific project, or, in some cases, a program.

These one-time matching grants are for $5,000, up to 50 percent of the project budget. The application process for 2024 grantmaking is now open. The application deadline is April 19, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

2023 Anything Grants™

Last year’s Anything Grants™ recipients included Ramah in the Rockies, Community Center for Bukharain Jews of Colorado, Congregation Rodef Shalom in Denver, Temple Beit Torah Religious School in Colorado Springs, Har Shalom in Ft. Collins, Denver Academy of Torah in Denver, the Staenberg-Loup JCC in Denver, the Hebrew Educational Alliance in Denver,  Aish of the Rockies in Greenwood Village, Chabad of Aspen, Colorado Hebrew Chorale in Denver, Temple Shalom in Colorado Springs, Jewish in the City -Chabad Downtown in Denver, the Early Learning Center at Temple Emanuel in Denver, and the Boulder JCC.

With a Religious School enrollment that has almost doubled since 2019, Har Shalom Center for Jewish Living in Ft. Collins purchased age-appropriate furniture, allowing them to continue accepting new families. “It is important that we have the tools and space to match the expanding interest in being part of our Jewish community,” they wrote to JEWISHcolorado.

Chabad of Aspen was able to purchase special occupational and sensory playroom equipment to support community members with special needs. Recipients wrote, “This will support the Jewish community and its special needs families in the Roaring Fork Valley by providing them with occupational therapy equipment and an environment that enhances and supports their lives.”

With their Anything Grant™, the Boulder JCC was able to transform a new programming space to accommodate a record number of programs and participants. “This grant helps the Boulder JCC serve a thriving community in an expanded capacity,” they wrote.

What are the goals of Anything Grants™?

In 2005, Michael Staenberg established the Staenberg Family Foundation to mobilize resources needed to preserve and enhance Jewish life in the United States and around the world. The Staenberg Family Foundation believes that Anything Grants™ will:

  • Contribute to local agencies that help create a thriving community;
  • Leave a lasting legacy by spreading tangible acts of goodwill throughout the Colorado Jewish community;
  • Encourage others in the Jewish community to support important initiatives, projects, and organizations.

Anything Grants™ may be available for programs, but since this may be a one-time grant, we encourage applications for specific one-time needs rather than ongoing programs. Please note that funding requests for security upgrades will not be funded by Anything Grants™.

In past years, Anything Grants have been used for a variety of projects including:

  • Hiring a nonprofit consultant;
  • Purchasing technology or upgrading technology;
  • Offering Staff/Board professional development;
  • Beautifying or improving a building;
  • Developing a mental health awareness program;
  • Purchasing and installing playground equipment.

All applicants for Anything Grants™ must have a 501(c)3 tax status. Applications will only be accepted via the online form. Please email for more information.

Staenberg Family Foundation Mission:
