Hear Israeli Voices at the Boulder JCC on February 7

Shufuni is a musical band, established in 2022 to promote young artists coming from Sderot, an area renowned for its music scene.  Shufuni’s goal is to offer different types of events and platforms aimed at exposing the public to the unique voice of Israel’s southern communities.

On October 7th, “Shufuni”  lost members of the band as well as their audience who were murdered during the horrific attack by Hamas.  Four band members will be performing and speaking at the Boulder JCC on Wednesday, February 7 for a daytime program. This program will start with a light lunch from 12 – 12:30 pm followed by the program and musical Performance from 12:30 – 1:45 pm.

This band of young musicians from Otef Aza, the Gaza Envelope – all victims and witnesses of the October 7th massacre will share their personal stories and experiences through music and song. Jonathan Lev, Executive Director of the Boulder JCC, recently returned from a trip to Israel, will moderate the conversation with the musicians.

Shufuni’s members include folk singer/songwriter Daniel Waiss, soul-folk singer Linor Ein Gedi, guitarist, drummer, and music educator Rotem Meir Levi, and performer Mira Semandoyev, who recently appeared in the finals of the Israeli Idol show, Hakochav Haba. The program at the Boulder JCC will be a special educational musical performance: a unique combination of Shufuni’s excellent music, and their personal stories from the past three months.

Presentation of Shufuni | Look At Me program is made possible by the מתחברים | Mit-habrim | CONNECTIONS Funding Initiative, a partnership between the Israeli Government’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, JCC Association of North America.
