Comedy, Live Music, Queer Seder and a Dance Party at the JCC Denver in April and May

The Mizel Arts and Culture Center at the JCC and Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC Denver) have several events coming up in April and May for people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds. Events range from a comedy show to live music to a holiday celebration, and even a dance party. 

Comedy show with Ali Kolbert and the Tight Five live at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center
April 18, 2024, 7- 9 p.m.

Ali Kolbert

Join us at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center for an evening of laughs with Ali Kolbert. Cheer on your friends as students from The Tight Five comedy class open for Ali. Proceeds from the evening will contribute to the Wolf Theatre Academy’s scholarship fund! Tickets are $20 or $25. A $25 ticket includes an automatic $5 donation to the WTA scholarship fund. Tickets also include 2 drinks for the evening.

Queer Seder for the Jewish holiday of Passover
April 28, 2024, 3-6 p.m.

Led by local Rabbis and LGBTQIA+ leadership, Queer Seder will include a mix of Passover traditions and relevant readings, songs, and prayers to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community. At Queer Seder, we come together as a community to celebrate the hard-fought freedom of our LGBTQIA+ community and remind ourselves of the progress we have yet to make. Tickets required.

Senior Prom for adults 55 and older
May 9, 2024, 7-9 p.m.

Let’s party like it’s 1965! It’s time to relive your glory days at the second annual “Senior” Prom at the JCC Denver for all adults over the age of 55. Come with a date, friend, sibling, or just fly solo. The theme this year is “Old Hollywood,” so be sure to dress in your finest eveningwear that is fit for the red carpet. Get ready to boogie, enjoy some light nosh, and clink your champagne glasses. RSVP today while tickets last!  

Avourneen

Avourneen In-Concert in the JCC Denver’s Backyard
May 2, 2024, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

What’s a better way to kick-off summer than with a backyard concert? Join the Mizel Arts and Culture Center at the JCC for live music from local band, Avourneen, with snacks, patio games, and more in The Backyard! Avourneen is a Denver-based trio that specializes in Irish folk music. The event is part of the Neustadt Jewish Arts, Authors, Movies and Music Series (JAAMM). Tickets required.

KlezKolorado Festival 
May 17 – 19, 2024 JCC Ranch Camp in Elbert, Colo.

KlezKolorado is a new, weekend-long Klezmer festival that centers around local and national Klezmer acts, Yiddish culture, workshops, and Colorado’s Jewish community. KlezKolorado will be structured primarily as a retreat, inviting participants to attend for a long weekend full of concerts, workshops, community meals and fun, nature-based activities. Guests can choose to attend the whole festival or exclusively come for the Klezmer concerts on that Friday and/or Saturday. Tickets required.
