Brotherhood and Women of Har HaShem Present: A Dramatic Reading of “We Are Going To Be Lucky – A World War II Love Story in Letters“
Sunday, June 23
10:00 am
In honor and memory of D-Day, 80 years ago, we are again presenting our dramatic reading of “We Are Going To Be Lucky.” We have presented our program over 30 times in person and multiple times on Zoom.
When World War II was raging thousands of miles away, a young couple from Brooklyn embarked on a remarkable daily correspondence. From more than 2,000 letters between Lenny and Diana Miller, first generation American Jews, emerged a conversation, often separated by weeks: her work as a machinist and union organizer at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and as a new mother while he trained in Southern Mississippi and fought in some of the most dangerous battles overseas in Europe.
Elizabeth Fox’s book is unique, one of the only book of letters, from both sides, over three years, and a detailed account of life on the Home Front. It is “the story of the triumphs and sacrifices, of ordinary people, in an extraordinary time.”
Please join us if you haven’t seen our program or if you would like to see it again.
