We are thrilled that this year’s program will feature an interview with Holocaust Survivor Paul Galan, a native of the former Czechoslovakia. Through a series of unusual circumstances and an extraordinary amount of luck, Paul and his immediate family members – although separated from one another in camps, in hiding, and in the forest – all survived the war. Paul immigrated to the United States as a teenager and spent his career in film production. On his retirement in 2006, he decided to put his skills as a communicator towards disseminating the memory and the legacy of the Holocaust by sharing his own story of survival. He also produced several video projects dealing with the Holocaust. Paul is a Co-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Holocaust Museum and Study Center located at Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY.
In addition to the keynote interview with Paul Galan, the program will feature remarks from Governor Jared Polis and Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera, a memorial service including candle lighting and a memorial prayer and other elements central to Holocaust remembrance and education.
