Letter: “An American” is Just an Antisemitic Excuse

Dear Letter to the Editor:

Last summer the US government, particularly the State Department, and the US media, particularly The New York Times and their sycophants across the country, and the Squad and its sycophants in Congress, endlessly covered  and obsessed about the problematic death of reporter Shireen Abu Akleh. Their SOLE excuse for this endless obsessive coverage was that she was AN AMERICAN CITIZEN even though 53 journalists were killed in war zones in 2022.

Now it is obvious to all who are not willfully blind that being an American citizen was just an antisemitic excuse for all that coverage. On February 27 an American citizen Elan Ganeles was shot and murdered in approximately the same general area of Israel. He’s an American citizen. Where is the media outrage? There is none. He’s an American citizen. Where is the demand for an investigation by The New York Times? There is none. Where is the demand for an investigation by the Squad and their sycophants in Congress?

There is none. He’s an American citizen. Where is the demand for an investigation by the State Department? There is none.

Clearly being an American citizen was nothing more than a mendacious antisemitic excuse for “outrage” in the case of Shireen Abu Akleh.

The deafening silence when it comes to “outrage” in the murder of American citizen Elan Ganeles demonstrates that both cases are solely about antisemitism not American citizenship.

Ms. Abu Akleh’s problematic death gave the media an opportunity to make the Jewish people of Israel look bad…in the journalistic tradition of Julius Streicher and Alfred Rosenberg. In a similar fashion now that President Biden has stuffed the State Department with antisemites in the tradition of FDR in the 1930s, those antisemites could pour their jew hatred on the Jewish people of Israel and use the cover of Ms. Abu Akleh’s American citizenship as an excuse.

Of course the silence of the above mentioned institutions regarding the murder of American citizen Elan Ganeles has only one reason: the foundational antisemitism of the American main stream media and foundational antisemitism of the current US State Department.

Until the mainstream media gives as much coverage to the death of American citizen Elan Ganeles as it did to the death of American citizen Shireen Abu Akleh…

..and until the State Department devotes as much public time to excoriating the murderer of American citizen  Elan Ganeles as it did to excoriating the IDF in the problematic circumstances of American citizen’s  Shireen Abu Akleh’s death…and until the Squad and its sycophants devote as much public time to the murder of  American citizen Elan Ganeles as they did to the problematic circumstances of American citizen Shireen Abu Akleh’s death, then virulent antisemitism is the ONLY explanation for the actions of the US main stream media including The New York Times, the  US State Department and the Squad and its antisemitic sycophants in Congress.

The surest way to upset readers when writing about Israel is to trip over semantics. The surest way to upset me is to focus on semantics without addressing the larger issues facing Israel.

Letter: Israel is Our Business

Bruce Ticker (“Israel is Our Business,” March 2) claims that the current Israeli government “has proposed annexing the Palestinian territories.” In fact, the government has not made any such proposal, and the platform of the ruling Likud party says nothing about annexing territories.
