Colorado Hebrew Chorale Announces January, February Events

Sunday, January 8, 7:00 pm on Zoom.  Mimi Raizen will continue her Jewish Leading Ladies of Broadway series with a discussion of Fanny Brice, born Fanny Borach in New York City who was a popular comedienne and entertainer. notable for her performances in the Ziegfield Follies, and creation of the character of Baby Snooks. She is the subject of the incredibly popular Broadway show Funny Girl, which launched the career of another subject of this series Barbara Streisand and which is currently having its first revival on Broadway.

Sunday, Feb. 5, 5:30-9 pm. Colorado Hebrew Chorale and Kol Nashim present their showcase event, Raisins & Almonds, A Tu B’shvat Celebration at the Hebrew Educational Alliance, 3600 S. Ivanhoe Street. The evening will honor State Representative Dafna Michaelson Jenet, a valued member of the Denver Jewish community.  Options include a VIP reception with Dafna featuring a wine bar and Israeli hors d’oeuvres, followed by a concert at 6:30 with presentations by both choirs as well as Altitude, the premier high school choir of the Denver Children’s Choir.  The repertoire honors Israel’s upcoming 75th anniversary, the 400th birthday of Jewish-Italian composer Salomone Rossi, and Tu B’Shvat, the New Year of Trees.  Songs will be sung in Hebrew, English, Arabic, Italian and Ladino. The concert will be followed by a dessert reception and Shira B’Tzibur, an Israeli sing-along led by members of the Colorado Hebrew Chorale and Kol Nashim.  Tickets may be purchased at
