A Boulder holiday tradition is ready to light up the night and it’s not the holiday star on Flagstaff Mountain. Chanukah on Pearl, sponsored by the Boulder JCC and the Boulder County Center for Judaism will take place on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall.
“It is more important than ever that the community come together,” says Chany Scheiner of the Boulder County Center for Judaism. “Chanukah gives us the opportunity to bring light in a time of darkness.”
This annual menorah lighting celebration will begin at 5:30 pm on the fifth night of Chanukah: Monday, December 11. Participants can expect music, dancing, as well as kosher doughnuts, hot chocolate, and latkes. This is a family-friendly event and people are welcome to invite friends and neighbors to celebrate the season in downtown Boulder.
“There is a heightened awareness stemming from the rise in antisemitism and hate in the U.S. and abroad. The safety and security of our community is our top priority, and we will continue to follow all protocols and policies at all Boulder JCC programs on campus and off-site,” said Jonathan Lev, Executive Director of the Boulder JCC. “We will have security at the event and we are in close contact with Boulder PD. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.”
This event is free. Advance registration is always encouraged for programs at the Boulder JCC. When you register in advance it allows us to have a good count of how many doughnuts to bring. It also allows us to communicate with you quickly if there is a change in the event’s location, as we experienced in 2022 due to a wildfire. Using a computer rather than your mobile device will make the registration process easier for you. For registration support call 303-998-1900 or contact Acy Jackson firstname.lastname@example.org.
