JNF-USA and Boulder JCC to Showcase Israeli Advances in Water Technology

Drip irrigation is one of the most efficient water and nutrient delivery systems for growing crops — ultimately enabling farmers to produce higher yields while also saving on fertilizers, and energy, according to Israel-based company Netafim, the pioneer and global leader in precision agriculture and drip irrigation solutions. The company was the first to establish the drip irrigation technology in Israel’s Negev Desert region; making it possible for Israeli farmers to grow their food with an ever-shrinking freshwater supply.

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 6:00 pm, Naty Barak, the Chief Sustainability Officer Emeritus of Netafim, will be the keynote speaker at Jewish National Fund-USA’s and Boulder Jewish Community Center’s (JCC) joint community event, From Israel to the World: Israeli Innovations in Using Water to Produce Food.

The event will be held at the Boulder JCC and will highlight Israeli advances in water technology, the agricultural challenges Israel faces in the Negev, and how advances in water technology are helping farmers overcome these hardships. The program will also highlight the Kasser Joint Institute for Food, Water, and Energy Security, Jewish National Fund-USA’s $10 million initiative which supports agriculture and much-needed water solutions for farmers in the Negev and developing countries around the world. Working with strategic partners like Netafim, Jewish National Fund-USA is committed to providing resources to underserved communities within Israel and its neighboring countries.

“Jewish National Fund-USA’s support of water technology and partnerships with companies such as Netafim is crucial for ensuring that Israel’s Negev and Galilee regions can continue to develop and flourish, while also creating solutions that have worldwide applicability,” said Event Chairs Carolyn Grant and Andy Franklin. “We are excited to come together with the Boulder JCC to bring these impressive advancements to our local community and showcase just how much this technology is improving the quality of life and agriculture for the land and people of Israel and the world at large.”

The event will also feature a reception with food, drinks, and networking with like-minded community members who are passionate about supporting the land and people of Israel.
