The Boulder JCC has in-person Purim programs and opportunities for all ages to get in the spirit of this festive holiday.
Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, an Achaemenid Persian Empire official, as recounted in the Book of Esther. The holiday is celebrated with a telling of the story from the Megillah, costumes, exchanging food and gifts with family and friends, a traditional meal, and special opportunities to take care of those in need.
Family Fun at the Purim Festival
On Sunday, March 13 from 1 – 3 pm, join us for a fun afternoon filled with outdoor activities for the whole family.
Leah Boonin and Caroline Saliman will tell the story of Purim with laughs and songs in the annual Purim Shpiel. The Shpiel will be offered at 1 pm and at 2:30 pm. Each Shpiel will be followed by a costume parade. This is an opportunity to show everyone your favorite Purim costume!
Enjoy dancing, crafts, outdoor lawn games, entertainment, making mishloach manot, and more. Hamentashen will be available for purchase from the Village Nosh Bakery.
Registration is required for adults and children 2 years and older. Children under 2 years do not need to register. Click HERE for more information and to register. Please contact shari@boulderjcc.org with any questions.
In the case of inclement weather, this event will be moved indoors and all individuals will be required to show either proof of being fully vaccinated* or a negative COVID-19 test** upon arrival at the Boulder JCC.
Teen Purim Chef Challenge
The Teen Purim Chef Challenge is a Jewish Culture Club tradition that will be continued on Thursday, March 17 at 4:30 pm. Teens are encouraged to get creative in the kitchen and use their culinary skills and quick thinking to use whatever food is in their mystery basket to create a dish that they hope the judges will think is delicious. No cooking experience is necessary to participate. Bring a friend to this fun event! Click HERE for more details and to register. Please contact tzuria.malpica@boulderjcc.org with any questions.
