Join us for the Boulder JCC’s Great Big Challah Bake, a virtual and in-person event presented by the Women of the J. If you are a weekly challah baker, or if you have never baked one before, you are welcome to participate in one of these amazing, powerful, and inspiring programs happening November 3 through November 14.

[Virtual] Traditional Challah – Wednesday, November 3 at 7 pm MT
Challah Bake Co-Chairs Debbie Garelick and Eti Young will teach a traditional challah recipe, and demonstrate challah braiding, while you bake along from your own home. This class is geared to bakers of all skill levels.
[In-Person] Traditional Challah Bake – Thursday, November 4 at 6 pm MT
Debbie and Eti will teach a traditional challah recipe while you bake along at the Boulder JCC. This class is geared to bakers of all skill levels. You will bring a bowl and spoon and we will provide all the ingredients, a printed recipe card, live instruction, and support to help you create one big beautiful loaf or two smaller loaves.
[Virtual] Talk and Braiding Demonstration with the Challah Prince – Sunday, November 7 at 10 am MT
Join Instagram sensation The Challah Prince, live from Israel for a virtual demonstration and talk about his journey from Israel to Berlin and back. We will share his challah recipe in advance if you would like to braid along.
[Virtual] Gluten-Free Challah Baking with Mitten – Wednesday, November 10 at 6:30 pm MT
Folks who want to enjoy a homemade Gluten Free option will love baking along with Mitten. Mitten developed her signature gluten-free, dairy-free, oat challah recipe, which has become a Great Big Challah Bake fan favorite!
[Virtual] Rainbow Challah Family Class with the Sherwinter Family – Sunday, November 14 at 10 am MT
Challah baking is the perfect opportunity as a family to get creative and have some fun! Join the Sherwinter Family live from Israel for a family rainbow challah class. We will send you the recipe and ingredients in advance so you can bake along with Karli and Kai to achieve the perfect rainbow challah. This is a great activity for kids as young as 3 to bake along with a caregiver.
We are once again partnering with Moe’s Broadway Bagels to donate loaves of challah to people in our community experiencing food insecurity. When you complete your registration you will have the option to add on a challah to donate.

The November 4 event will be held in person at the Boulder JCC following all of our Health & Safety Protocols. As of November 1, 2021, we are implementing a Vaccination Policy for program participants that varies by program location/attendance.
