Shabbat shalom! In a show of the terrible things that can happen in just a week, something like 150,000 acres have burned in three fires that started just since our last Week in Review went out (Cal-Wood, Lefthand Canyon, and East Troublesome, in order of appearance). Our thoughts and prayers this shabbat are truly with the firefighters, those evacuated, those whose houses have been destroyed and their lives upended here, around the state and around the west. Please keep them in mind as you go about your business this weekend, and let’s hope that the winter weather heading in on Sunday does much to help get the fires under control or even put out.

Please be sure to follow all the recommendations/ requirements of Boulder County Public Health, including wearing masks in public. Governor Polis has now issued an order requiring masks in all public indoor spaces. The City of Boulder has seen a spike in cases recently; please be vigilant in protecting your families and yourself.

I'm David Fellows, and I've served as a writer, photographer and/or an editor on my junior high and high school newspapers; the Daily Trojan at USC (where I earned my journalism degree); the student newspaper at the Anderson School at UCLA (where I earned my MBA); and I've written and edited countless business documents and presentations in the ensuing twenty years. I was also a professional photographer from 1978 to 1988 (although you never really stop...). I've been involved Jewishly since my bris and in Boulder since 1995.
