As these very hard and confusing days of lockdown continue, it is easy for today to feel like yesterday and tomorrow, and to count off the days until we can go back to seeing the people we miss and resuming some of our activities. There is a big difference between counting days and making days count. The annual counting ritual of the 49 days of the Omer has some deep wisdom on the quality of each day, which might be especially important right now.
To accommodate those who would otherwise not participate in formal Rosh Hashanah synagogue services, Rabbi Scheiner of Boulder Center for Judaism is promoting a brief, open-to-all, Rosh Hashanah ceremony that includes the primary observances of the holiday. There will be a special activity for kids and a small holiday gift takeaway.
Our sages teach the power of Rosh Hashanah: This is when G-d bestows the world, and each individual creature, with all of the divine blessings for the upcoming year. He opens new channels to allow our unique gifts to enter our lives.
