Pre-Order Challah and Passover Dinners from River and Woods

River and Woods is a local, family-owned Boulder restaurant. One of our traditions is baking challah on Fridays in preparation for Shabbat. We cherish the recipe which was generously shared with us by the family of a holocaust survivor. It is baked weekly with care by our baker who is like a family member to us.

Because of the modified format we find ourselves operating in suddenly (to-go only, no dine-in service allowed) we were unable to bake challah last week for the first time in 3-1/2 years. We were humbled by the number of  requests for challah bread when Friday came around.

So, for this coming week, we’ve decided to try something new – we are taking challah pre-orders for pick up this Friday, March 27th. If we can get at least 24 orders, we can put our baker back to work for a day making challah for our community.

So many of you have asked how you can help. Here’s one small thing. If we are successful we’ll keep it up. Every time you order something from River and Woods you help us provide meals for our staff, the vast majority of whom are unemployed due to the corona crisis. Thank you for your support and generosity.

Details: Organic Zimmer Challah from River and Woods Fresh baked from a recipe that survived WWII, served with whipped lavender pine butter. $9 per loaf, includes butter.

Pre-order your Challah by Wednesday, March 25th.

Available for curbside pick-up at River and Woods March 27th after 3 pm. To order go to Click the “See Menu & Order” button which will take you to our full menu and includes the Challah pre-order. While you’re there you can add “take and bake” kits to your order, and wine, beer and cocktails and you’ll have a beautiful Shabbat meal ready to go. We are also offering pre-orders for Passover Meal Kits (coming soon!).

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!
