Jewish Teens Help Set the Course for the Future

The Boulder JCC and many other organizations in the Front Range are working on the important challenge of how we best support our teens. For the last several years, the Boulder JCC has been running teen programs through BJTI, the Boulder Jewish Teen Initiative. BJTI programming aims to provide teens and their peers with a sense of their place in the Jewish community. BJTI focuses on leadership development, building relationships, life skills, and social engagement through Jewish Culture Clubs at Boulder High Schools.

During our regular BJTI programming, staff from the JCC hosted weekly club meetings at Monarch, Dawson, New Vista, September School, Fairview, and Boulder High. This setting allowed students to find comradery, wrestle with hard questions, and develop a stronger sense of Jewish identity.

Since our community moved to safe at home, many of our teens have lost this social connection and our plans to finish out the school year were disrupted. At the end of every school year we send a national survey which supports us in continuing this important work. It has been incredibly difficult to collect the data we need. We are reaching out to parents in our community for help to gather the information we need from your high school students.

Do you have a high school aged child? Have you asked them if they have been part of Jewish Culture Club? If so, please ask that they take 5-7 minutes to fill out this survey.  We truly miss our teens and hope to be back in person with them in the fall. This survey is a crucial step in helping us remain a resource for teens in the Boulder/Denver area. If you have any questions about the teen programs at the Boulder JCC, please email
