Stan Lee: Visionary, Titan, Showman, Artist, and Pop Culture Icon

Stan Lee, whose superpowers finally expired last November at the age of 95, left the world a better place, or at least he left behind a universe changed forever by a single word: Marvel!

At the ACE retrospective next Tuesday February 5, Kathryn Bernheimer will present a slide show and discuss Stan Lee’s influence, import, and creative accomplishments.

Stan Lee the visionary, the showman, the titan, and Stan Lee the writer – whose characters and stories have generated billions – will be revealed. His legacy, the universe he imagined, and the heroes he created will be evaluated through image and text. The Fantastic Four, The Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, The X-Men, The Avengers, Daredevil, and Black Panther all sprung from his feverishly creative imagination, and along with them came a revolutionary concept of the superhero that extends t0 today. In fact, the new live-action Marvel film, “Black Panther” has just been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Somewhere, Stan Lee is grinning like crazy.

Find out what made this amazing man tick, and why Stanley Martin Lieber is but the most famous of a host of Jewish comicbook creators.
