Letter: The Armenian Genocide

The Board of Rocky Mountain Hye [Armenian] Advocates wishes to extend our deep appreciation to our Dean of the Delegation Degette, and Representatives Perlmutter, Neguse and Crow for co-sponsoring H.Res 296 [Affirming the Armenian Genocide].  The resolution was overwhelmingly adopted in a House vote on October 29th.  Representatives Lamborn, Tipton and Buck joined their colleagues in this affirmative vote.

American-Armenians throughout the nation and here in Colorado have worked tirelessly for decades to achieve this hallmark declaration which has been actively opposed by Turkey.  We sincerely thank our Colorado Delegation for its unified position on this historical declaration.

Throughout, the Colorado Jewish community has been a staunch ally and great credit must be given to Roz Duman, founder of the Coalition Against Global Genodice who has stood in alliance with us for decades.

The companion Senate Resolution [S.Res. 150] is co-sponsored by Senator Gardner [Foreign Relation Committee] who has renewed his support in each session, since elected.  We respectfully urge Senate Majority Leader McConnell to schedule this resolution for a vote.

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!

Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, a Mississippi Republican, scores zero for two so far on the facts. She falsely claims that Sunday is the Sabbath besides Saturday and, far more importantly, that our civil rights revolve around religious beliefs.
