Registration Starts August 5, 2019; Fall Classes Begin September 16, 2019
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, better known as OLLI, is a program designed for people age 50+ wishing to pursue intellectual learning opportunities in a relaxed, stimulating, and socially interactive atmosphere. Thanks to the generosity of the Bernard Osher Foundation, OLLI at the University of Denver is one of more than 120 affiliated institutes across the U.S. helping older learners find personal fulfillment. OLLI-Boulder is the newest venue, having opened its doors to more than 200 new members in January 2019.
Classes meet for three eight-week terms (winter, spring, fall), and include courses in history, music, film, writing, literature, philosophy, current events, science, wellness, and more. In addition, a speaker series, workshops and field trips expand the curriculum. Most classes meet one day a week for two hours and are facilitated by OLLI member-volunteers who have professional knowledge or scholarly interest in a subject area. Facilitators include retired university faculty members, skilled professionals, and independent scholars.
Registration for an OLLI term means that members can participate in as many classes as they want at any of the six metropolitan area OLLI sites: Boulder, East, Central, West, South, and the DU Campus. The cost is $130 per term. There will be a Fall Term Preview Event, Thursday, August 1, 2019, 10 a.m. – noon, at our OLLI-Boulder location (Mountain View United Methodist Church, 355 Ponca Pl., Boulder) to familiarize prospective members with the program and the upcoming fall classes. Registration starts on August 5; classes begin September 16. Be sure to register your email on the OLLI-Boulder website http://portfolio.du.edu/olliboulder and check often for updates, including the course catalog and registration information.
