Celebrate Chanukah with Ice Cream, Menorah Making & Giving Back at the JCC Denver

The JCC Denver is collaborating with High Point Creamery to create an exclusive Chanukah ice cream flavor called “Bob’s Babka” named after Robert “Bob” E. Loup who is the namesake of the JCC Denver building and was a major donor to the organization.

The ice cream will be sold in the JCC Denver lobby from Monday, Dec. 9 through Monday, December 23. The ice cream is an olive oil ice cream base with homemade chocolate babka swirled in. Proceeds from the sale of each pint of ice cream will support the JCC Denver’s programs and scholarships.

The JCC Denver will also be hosting a canned food drive from Monday, December 2 to Wednesday, December 18 encouraging members of the community and guests to bring non-perishable items into the JCC. The JCC will deliver the items to Isabella Bird Community School to distribute through their Backpack Food Program and Pantry, supporting kids and families in the community. In addition to canned food, the school also requested toiletries.

On Sunday, December 22, the JCC Denver is hosting a Menorah Making Chanukah Party from 10 am to Noon. Guests will find items around the JCC to use to make their own Menorah, play dreidel and eat chocolate gelt. There is no cost for adults to attend. A donation of $5 is suggested per each child. Please RSVP to attend.

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!
