Main Genealogy Websites Compared at Next JGSCO Meeting

A comparison of the main genealogy websites, with a review of JewishGen.org, will be presented by Sunny Morton (GenealogyGems) on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Hosted by the Jewish Genealogical Society of Colorado (JGSCO) in the Perlmutter Room at the Denver JCC. There is a special start time of 9:00 am, and the program will run until 1:00 pm.

Sunny Morton is a Contributing Editor at Lisa Louise Cooke’s internationally-renowned Genealogy Gems podcast and the premiere genealogy magazine in the United States, Family Tree Magazine.  As someone who teaches genea the rlogical research skills and reports regularly on the industry, she has developed a specialty in analyzing and comparing the relative merits of various genealogy websites.  She has even authored a unique quick reference guide on the topic: “Genealogy Giants: Comparing the 4 Major Websites.”

From this perspective she will compare the pros and cons of using Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, Findmypast.com and MyHeritage.com. She will then share an in-depth comparison of historical records on these four sites, with special emphasis on Jewish historical record content, adding to the discussion: historical databases that can be found on JewishGen.
