Har HaShem Seeks Family Educator

Har HaShem is Boulder’s Reform congregation, committed to building a diverse community committed to social justice and finding meaning in Jewish life. Har HaShem is committed to family learning, believing that families who learn together have a greater potential to find that meaning. Har HaShem’s family educator is responsible for our intimate once-a-month Family School program that is an alternative to our Sunday religious school and for infusing family learning into our one-off programs for various grades on Sunday mornings and all-school family education programs that happen once or twice a year. Family School meets monthly on Shabbat afternoon for students and parents K-8, includes intergenerational and parallel learning, a Shabbat service, seudah shlishit and concludes with Havdalah. Har HaShem seeks a dynamic, caring and creative individual to be our family educator.

Responsible for:
•Creating and implementing all Family School and Sunday family programs.
•Manage all logistical parts of Family school and Sunday Family Education programs, including calendaring and communication.
•Hiring, supervising and mentoring Family School faculty.
•Evaluating and continuing to improve and reimagine programs and family learning in consultation with the Director of Lifelong Learning.
•Creating curriculum for both adults, children and families together, paying particular attention to building community within the group, integrating new families and connecting families to the larger Har HaShem community.

•Keep current on best practices of Jewish family education and be committed to one’s ongoing Jewish learning.
•Be part of the Har HaShem Lifelong Learning team

Qualifications
•Depth of Jewish Knowledge and ability to lead a worship service
•Ability to Supervise and Mentor
•Competency in teaching adults and young people, both separately and as families
•Self-starter
•Organized, Attention to Detail and Timely
•Innovator and problem-solver
•Team player
•Community builder
•Technologically proficient in word, excel, data base programs, or
willing to learn.
•Sense of humor and willingness to learn from mistakes

The Family Educator is a part-time position, supervised by the Director of Lifelong Learning.
