Boulder JFS Donor Spotlight: Jerry and Gail Sloat

Jerry Sloat sounding the shofarJerry and Gail Sloat have been longtime supporters of Boulder JFS. In fact, their first contact with JFS was when Jerry volunteered to sound the shofar at a JFS High Holy Day service in an assisted living facility approximately 35 years ago! Since then, their involvement has grown. Jerry still sounds the shofar at all of the High Holy Day services in many senior living communities around Boulder. Gail has been a Friendly Visitor volunteer for about seven years, which she loves.

Jerry’s law firm, Sloat & Nicholson P.C., has been the top sponsor of Boulder JFS’s annual fundraiser, Reel Hope Boulder, since the event’s inception six years ago. “We chose to sponsor the event because I was asked,” says Jerry with a smile. “More than that, it is an opportunity to help the community. It is really great to see how JFS has grown and is supporting seniors.”

He adds,

“We all had family where we came from and most of us don’t have family here. We all need family around us and JFS represents that. My slogan for JFS is ‘We are your family; you are never alone.’ It is great to see the Boulder Jewish community grow and thrive because of organizations like JFS and the people it serves. Gail and I are proud to be able to contribute in any way we can.”

We are now accepting sponsorships for the 6th annual Reel Hope Boulder on November 3. For more information, contact Bonni Raderman, Boulder JFS development associate, at 720.749.3404.
