Jewish National Fund (JNF), along with Boulder Jewish Community Center, Hazon, and Milk and Honey Farm, is hosting a special breakfast with Miriam May, Executive Director of Friends of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Boulder Jewish Community Center (6007 Oreg Avenue). The event will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 am. There is no cost to attend; however, RSVP is required by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (303.573.7095).
The Arava Institute is Israel’s premier environmental academic and research center, which advances cross-border environmental cooperation in the face of political conflict. Water, air, energy, and land are shared natural resources in the Middle East. Trust, however, is the scarcest resource, and building trust with Israel’s neighbors is a critical part of the Arava Institute’s mission.
Cross-border environmental problems exacerbate the already heightened tensions between Palestinians and Israelis. Water scarcity, pollution, and climate change pose legitimate, daily problems, and physical barriers cannot prevent untreated sewage and polluted air from flowing across borders.
In partnership with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and with the support from JNF, the Arava Institute educates and prepares future leaders from Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan, and around the world to cooperatively solve the pressing environmental challenges of our time. May will discuss this and so much more during this fascinating and educational breakfast.
May joined the Friends of the Arava Institute as executive director last October from Harvard Hillel, where she was director of Institutional Advancement. Previously she served as the founding managing director of the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University and executive director of the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Massachusetts. May has an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Labor Relations/Organizational Behavior from Cornell University.
Join JNF and Miriam May for this discuss and so much more during the breakfast in Boulder on June 22. For more information, contact Matthew Leebove, Senior Campaign Director, at email@example.com or 303.573.7095 x976.
