The summer has officially started and the Boulder JCC’s Cherryvale Day Camp program has had a great start to the season! With an exciting new outdoor area including flagpoles, two gaga pits, a volleyball net, and a hangout area with tents and benches, the campers are loving their time in the sun and the shade.
A few of the camper’s favorite activities from last year, like quidditch, weekly trips to the pool, and of course, gaga, coupled with new activities, like 9-Square, frisbee, and ice painting are making for exciting outdoor fun. Cartooning, painting, 3D printing, and coding are some of the fun and unique indoor activities that this year’s campers enjoy. Campers also participate in a themed Shabbat activity each Friday.
Milk & Honey Farm is also an integral part of camp. Campers spend time on the farm learning about the environment, sustainability, and farming. A favorite camp activity is to visit the greenhouse, and pick fresh veggies for afternoon snack. While there are specialty camps specifically for farm activities, all of the day campers get a “taste” of what’s going on at the farm.
Weekly theme days have been a great addition to the camp schedule. Crazy hair and hat day is a weekly favorite. Upcoming themes that are highly anticipated included Yo-Ho-Ho a Pirate’s Life for Me Week, American Pride, and Shark Week!
Between the new camp spaces, the amazing staff, and the jam-packed, fun-filled schedules, this season of Cherryvale Day Camp is prepared to continue laying the foundation for many years to come. With our Specialty Camp program also in full swing, campers have the option to have a specialized experience in the morning, such as LEGO’s, History Adventures, Challenge Island, and more, and can still join in the fun of day camp with “Afternoons at Cherryvale.” There is still time to join in on the summer fun.
