Debra Shaffer Seeman Joins Ayeka to Support Day School Initiative

Program to be funded by AVI CHAI, Kohelet and Mayberg Foundations

Jerusalem, Israel – Ayeka: The Center for Soulful Education today announced that leading Jewish educator Debra Shaffer Seeman will join Ayeka as an Ayeka Mentor. Debra will responsible for mentoring four Jewish day schools in North America who will be selected to participate in a unique program to introduce Ayeka’s Soulful Education methodology into their Judaic Studies departments. The Ayeka program is being funded by a two-year grant from the AVI CHAI, Kohelet and Mayberg foundations.

Debra, who also serves as Network Weaver for Prizmah: Center for Jewish Day Schools, brings a wealth of experience in nurturing learning communities, building institutions and network development. An avid teacher of classical Jewish texts and an educational entrepreneur, Debra has served in a variety of educational settings in Israel and North America including Dror Elementary School, Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, Florence Melton Adult Mini School, Rambam Atlanta Day School, Yeshiva Atlanta High School, and RAVSAK.

Ayeka recently issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) from Jewish day schools interested in participating in this exciting venture. The RFP can be viewed here. The deadline for submitting a proposal is October 4, 2017. Interested schools should schedule a preliminary conversation with Ayeka’s Director, Aryeh Ben David, prior to submitting an RFP by contacting aryeh@ayeka.org.il. Schools that are accepted into the program will be notified by October 31, 2017.
